We found these distinctive signs (known as Tafeen) hanging outside of the shops, restaurants, and inns in Appenzell to be charming! We loved looking at the detail of each one. Tafeen comes from the word for tavern and the most elaborate Tafeen are found along Heiligkreuzkapelle, the main street of the village. Here are some of our favorites from all around the village:
