The High Line is a relatively new public park on Manhattan’s West Side running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street. The park is built on the historic freight rail line elevated above the streets giving you a unique perspective over Manhattan’s streets – literally. The High Line crosses right over the top of some of NYC’s busiest streets and you can take a front row street to watch all those yellow cabs zoom by!
Japanese artist Tomoaki Suzuki (b. 1972) is known for small wooden figurative sculptures depicting real people with distinct urban style. For Lilliput, Suzuki will present his first outdoor sculpture, Carson, a young man wearing a black leather jacket and tight pants. Usually one-third of human scale, Suzuki’s sculptures update the traditional technique of wood carving to a contemporary multicultural style.

This brings back wonderful memories of my recent stay in NYC–the High Line was one of the high points. Such a smart idea.

Hi Elizabeth! The High Line is a really great park where you almost feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the city while being right smack in the middle of it!
