While we’ve been dreaming of those long, hot summer days, your dog might actually be dreading them. Not all dogs were built for the heat, especially Northern breeds like a Samoyed. The rising temperatures might seem like a challenge, but it can be a summer breeze keeping your dog cool, comfortable and entertained. One way to keep your dog cool and happy is with homemade pupsicles!
Coco goes nuts the minute I open the freezer door. She can be in a dead sleep and will immediately be at my side when she hears the freezer door. She definitely loves her pupsicles!
Pupsicle recipes definitely doesn’t have to be time consuming or complicated. I whip up these dog popsicle recipes in under 10 minutes and they make a healthy, refreshing treat Coco looks forward to.
Not all pupsicle recipes need to contain yogurt or dairy. Some fruits are excellent for pureeing to make a super easy single ingredient pupsicle. But Greek yogurt does also have many health benefits for your dog. Greek yogurt is high in protein, calcium, and probiotics. The probiotics help fight yeast infections, which is a particular benefit for Samoyeds since the breed is prone to skin and ear infections particularly from yeast.
Any popsicle mold will do for making pupsicles, but a paw-shaped popsicle mold makes a frozen dog treats recipe extra cute. I also use all natural meat sticks like these JR Pet Products pure meat sticks as the popsicle stick so that the entire treat is edible. I don’t think JR Pet Products is available in the US (which is too bad, because this is one of our favorite brands!), but you can use something similar like these pure beef sticks.

You know what they say: an apple a day keeps the doctor away! And apples are just as healthy for your dog as they are for you. Apples are loaded with powerful antioxidants and vitamin C, which is great for your dog’s diet. Just be sure to remove all the seeds and the core, because apple seeds do contain cyanide.

- all-natural apple sauce (be sure it has no added sugars or preservatives)
- plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- all natural pure meat sticks
Directions:

- mix together the all-natural apple sauce, Greek yogurt and coconut oil until fully blended
- stir in the diced apple
- break the meat sticks in half and put in the popsicle mold

- freeze for a minimum of 3 hours
2. Cantaloupe Pupsicle Recipe
Dogs can have cantaloupe in moderation. This beloved summer fruit has loads of benefits from helping with your dog’s eyesight to reducing risk of cancer. Cantaloupes are loaded with vitamin A and beta carotene, plus are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin B-6, potassium and fiber – just to name a few! But be sure to cut off all the rind, because consuming the rind can cause intestinal damage in dogs.
This cantaloupe recipe is super simple and has only two ingredients: cantaloupe and the meat sticks I use for the entirely edible homemade pupsicles.

Directions:
- remove the seeds and rind of the cantaloupe, and chop it up

3. Blueberry Pupsicle Recipe
Bluberries are a super food for dogs just like they are for people. The high levels of resveratrol have both anti-cancer and heart disease fighting qualities. Plus, blueberries help prevent urinary tract infections. And blueberries can even help support cognitive development in puppies.
Being an excellent fruit to include in your dog’s diet, a blueberry pupsicle is a healthy and delicious frozen dog treat you can feel comfortable feeding to your dog daily. And this one is super easy, too.
Ingredients:
- fresh blueberries
- water
- all natural pure meat sticks
Directions:
- break the meat sticks in half and put in the popsicle mold
- fill the popsicle mold about 1/3 way full with water
- add a few whole fresh bluberries to the popsicle mold
- fill the rest of the popsicle mold with water to the top
- freeze for a minimum of 3 hours
4. Watermelon Pupsicle Recipe
Watermelon is a low-calorie and tasty treat for your dog. It’s 92% water, so watermelon is an excellent way to help keep your dog hydrated on hot summer days. It’s also packed with vitamins including vitamin A, vitamin B-6 and vitamin C. The antioxidants are excellent for preventing inflammation and the fiber is good for digestion. It’s important to remove both the seeds and rind though, since they can create blockages.
Watermelon pupsicles are super easy to make with only two ingredients; and a healthy, refreshing summer treat.

- all natural pure meat sticks
Directions:
- break the meat sticks in half and put in the popsicle mold

5. Strawberry Yogurt Pupsicle Recipe
Strawberries are a delicious treat for your dog and can given to them in moderation. Strawberries are full of fiber, which is good for digestion. They’re also backed with vitamin C. Beyond that, strawberries have the added benefit of an enzyme that helps whiten dogs teeth as they eat them. Since strawberries do have a higher sugar content than some other fruits, only feed your dog 3-4 strawberries per day.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 strawberries diced up
- plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- all natural pure meat sticks
Directions:
- melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 30-40 seconds
- mix together the Greek yogurt and coconut oil until the coconut oil is fully blended
- stir in the diced strawberries
- break the meat sticks in half and put in the popsicle mold
- spoon the strawberry yogurt mixture in to the popsicle mold
- freeze for a minimum of 3 hours
