Luxe Lotte Hotel Moscow

Moscow is home to 79 of Russia’s 101 billionaires, more than any other city in the world. While we might not be billionaires (or millionaires even), we certainly felt like Moscow billionaires during our stay at the luxurious Lotte Hotel Moscow! From the Maserati valeted out front to the glittering lobby with specially commissioned blown glass chandeliers, from elevators dripping with diamonds from the ceiling to the French-inspired Les Menus, Moscow’s only restaurant with a Michelin three-star chef, Lotte Hotel Moscow oozes opulence and romance.

In a country not exactly known for their friendliness and customer service even in the most upscale hotels, Lotte Hotel Moscow is the exception. Lotte is a Korean brand and the Moscow hotel is their first venture in Europe. Despite being nearly an hour later than our anticipated arrival time, Lotte’s public relations representative Maria, was waiting outside for us with a friendly smile and welcome. And all throughout our stay, we were greeted with smiles and hellos. I assure you, it was not the same – quite the opposite, actually – at all of our other hotels as the we traveled the Golden Ring of Russia from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

Our deluxe room with city view was spacious at 56 square meters and the decor was soothing. So soothing in fact, we simply ordered room service in and had a relaxing dinner in our PJs after getting caught without umbrellas in a downpour earlier in the day. Croque-monsieur (think a French version of a grilled ham and cheese) smothered with hot, melted cheese was just the comfort food I needed after being soaked to the bone. We literally sunk into the incredibly comfortable king bed and woke up feeling refreshed each morning.

The bathroom was a favorite of ours with separate rain shower and soaking tub, wash closet, and sink areas. Being a Korean brand, we had our first experience with a fancy Asian toilet. The Toto Washlet intrigued us and our Facebook fans alike! Of course, we had to try out all the buttons for research purposes.

Breakfast each morning was in the beautiful Les Menus with a plentiful buffet including sparkling wine and caviar, which we enjoyed with cook-to-order omelets from the omelet bar. We also loved the yogurt parfaits and tower of fresh fruit. We certainly had a breakfast packed with protein to keep our energy up as we explored the sights of the city.

And if champagne and caviar for breakfast aren’t enough to convince you that Lotte Hotel Moscow is where the billionaires come to play in the city, the Royal Suite certainly will! Maria kindly gave us a tour of the 490 square meter suite (5274 square feet), which Lotte Hotel Moscow proudly boasts as the largest in the city. The Royal Suite has hosted heads of state, political figures, high-ranking diplomats, celebrities and simply those who value luxury and comfort. After all, the Royal Suite even has a separate bedroom and bathroom for your security entourage. Though, with bullet-proof glass in all rooms of the Royal Suite, who needs a security entourage?

The living room is a gorgeous space complete with a grand piano. I could totally envision a chic cocktail party being held here with passed hors d’oeuvres, which would be prepared in the suite’s kitchen. “This,” I commented, “is where Wills and Kate stay when they come to Moscow!”

There is a private sauna, jacuzzi bath big enough to take a swim in, and a separate walk-in rain shower big enough for two…or sixteen. I could live in the walk-in wardrobe and be happy for a lifetime sleeping amongst my shelves of sky-high Jimmy Choos and Manolos, which I’d definitely need to master walking on cobbles in to truly fit in with the Russian women.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to indulge in a spa treatment at Mandara Spa, one of the top spas in Moscow. With all the walking we did all over the city and inside the Kremlin, I would have loved a relaxing foot massage! And speaking of the miles of walking, I didn’t need to hop on a treadmill, but the fitness center is definitely the largest and most well equipped I’ve ever seen.

We absolutely loved our stay at Lotte Hotel Moscow and it left a lasting impression of luxurious comfort and great customer service for this new-to-us brand. We’d stay again in a heartbeat and Lotte will be top of our where-to-stay list as we explore more of Asia.

Know Before You Go

• Our room was a deluxe room with city view and rates are approximately $525 per night with breakfast included. The rates may vary depending on the date of your stay.
• The Royal Suite rates are approximately $15,000 per night.
• Lotte Hotel is easily accessible from the Domodedovo Airport by taking the airport express train to the central station. Then take the metro to Smolenskaya and the hotel is just a short walk. We found this to be the easiest and fastest way as Moscow is famous for their traffic jams!
