I recently spent a wonderful five days in Montreal with the sophisticated Omni Mont-Royal as my Montreal home. Located on historic Sherbrooke Street in the heart of Montreal’s Golden Square Mile, the Omni Mont-Royal is the very hotel that Quebec-born singer Celine Dion chose for her lavish wedding reception and holed up for a romantic wedding night. I even got a sneak peek at Celine’s honeymoon suite on the top floor of the 31 story hotel, which was just a few doors down from my own fabulous room.
With a $20 million dollar renovation to Omni Hotels & Resorts flagship hotel and a perfect central location in the heart of downtown Montreal, the four star Omni Mont-Royal is a perfect home away from home when visiting Montreal. Here’s just a few more reasons why you’ll love Omni Mont-Royal:
1. The Rooms
The rooms are incredibly spacious; even the deluxe rooms (smallest rooms) are 250 – 300 square feet with either a king or two double beds, a sitting area, and a lovely marble bathroom. My room was a premium room on the top floor with a fantastic view over Mont-Royal Park. I especially loved the walk in closet, where I could stash away my bag (and not look at the explosion of clothes coming out of it).
2. The Bed
If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I absolutely dread the hotel bed. It’s just never as comfortable as my own bed at home and I inevitably end up tossing and turning and with a kink in my neck. There have been a few hotel beds lately that I loved and the bed at Omni Mont-Royal was one of them! Even my sister-in-law, who joined me for my girls’ getaway to Montreal, woke up every morning raving about the bed. I also heard that employees had the opportunity to purchase the beds at a special price and many of them took advantage of the offer. After four nights of wonderfully comfortable sleep, I can see why they’d jump on owning one of these fab beds!
3. The Sauna
You’d think that my recent “sauna accident” would put me off saunas, but the 24 hour sauna was a great place to relax in the middle of the night when my jet lag got the best of me.
4. The Pool
Snow decided to fall and make it feel more like winter than spring, but had it been warmer, I would have loved lounging pool side a few stories above the hustle and bustle of downtown Montreal. During summer, the pool also has a poolside bar for cocktails and snacks while you soak up the rays.
5. Breakfast
The newly renovated Le Petit Opus Cafe may be French bistro inspired, but the breakfast is a full American-style breakfast with everything from yogurt parfaits to cooked-to-order eggs (the veggie omelets are delicious). Pancakes, waffles, and the like are also on offer with real maple syrup. A hearty breakfast sustained us for our activity packed days.
6. Free Wifi
I can’t believe I even still have to include free wifi on a list of reasons to love a hotel, but Omni Mont-Royal doesn’t charge an exorbitant fee for wifi. Just sign up for their free Omni Select Guest program and receive perks like free wifi throughout your entire stay.
7. Omni Select Guest
Speaking of Omni’s loyalty program, you also earn points for staying at any of Omni Hotels & Resorts more than 300 properties world wide. Stay 20 nights and earn a free night. Other perks of program include complimentary pressing (perfect for those items that inevitably get wrinkled no matter how OCD you are when packing), complimentary bottles of water, and early check-in and late check-out.
8. The Gym
Montreal is an international foodie city and I think I ate more than anything else. Which means I needed to counteract all those calories from tasty meals like a Sugar Shack dinner with cardio. The fitness center is a spacious 6,600 square feet with multiple rooms of machines and weights. There’s even a room for aerobics, pilates, or yoga.
9. Service
From the doorman to the bellhop and everyone in between, you can tell the staff at Omni Mont-Royal enjoy coming to work each day. Smiling faces and friendly conversation met me every day and everyone truly made me feel right at home.
10. Location
The location was truly fantastic! The hotel is steps away from a bus stop and metro stops are just a few blocks away. My sister-in-law used the airport shuttle and it also dropped her off just a short walk from the hotel. We could easily walk to many museums, Old Montreal, and traverse the underground malls all from the centrally located Omni Mont-Royal.
I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Omni Mont-Royal again and my sister-in-law was already contemplating her return trip with some girlfriends.
Thank you to Omni Mont-Royal for hosting us during our stay. As always, all opinions and raving bed reviews are entirely my own.

Have to say it but that bath tub would just gives me urges to do a moonie out the window!
Jennifer Dombrowski says
Haha, Nat!! There are a few other high rises around that just might see you!

LOVE that tub!

Isn’t that tub amazing?! The view from the tub is pretty sweet too.

It's nice that you got a free stay, but how much would an ordinary person pay, and how does this compare with other options in Montreal?

It seems odd that the one of the most obvious reasons to stay somewhere is not in the top 10 list.

Hi Margaret! The Omni Mont Royal is quite affordable. Rates vary by season, but a regular room, which is still quite spacious, starts around 200 CAD per night. There are quite a lot of hotels in Montreal, so there is something for every budget.
While the Omni Mont Royal did host us with a complimentary stay, we work very hard telling our story of our experience and promoting a hotel we would highly recommend.

I’d stay there just because it has the same name as one of the main locations in the old series “North and South” 😉 But the pictures help, haha.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
